For six laps of the 37.73-mile circuit, Joey set a pace no one could match. He crossed the line nearly 15 seconds ahead of Michael Rutter, with McGuinness taking third.

But this victory meant more than just a trophy. At a time when the sport was changing –faster bikes, younger riders, and new technology – Joey showed us all that racing isn’t just about speed. This August, we’ll honor Joey in the best way possible – on the Mountain Course. On Friday, 29th August, Michael Dunlop, Joey’s nephew and now the most successful TT rider in history, will take on a special demonstration lap aboard a replica of Joey’s 2000 factory Honda VTR SP1. Michael has made his own mark on TT history, but this lap is more than just a tribute. It’s a moment that connects past and present, linking two generations of Dunlop greatness. You won’t want to miss it.
