MARSHAL THE CLASSIC
The orange army is the group of 600 dedicated motorsport fans that line the 37.73 miles of the Mountain Course for the duration of every session taking place, every year.
They ensure that the Classic TT will run safely and efficiently so racers and fans can have the time of their lives, all whilst getting to enjoy the high-octane, nostalgia fuelled action up close.
Why not add yourself to the community of Marshals that are giving back to the sport we all love?
MARSHALLING IS ESSENTIAL
Without the Orange Army stationed around the Island, the races can’t run.
They make sure that spectators are safe, that any incidents are dealt with quickly and safely and that the course is in top condition.
The 00 sector helps this – marshals who sign up to this sector get stationed anywhere on the course to fill gaps.
MARSHALLING IS REWARDING
To become a marshal you go through some high quality and very important training which you can take away with you and use anywhere in the world.
You also know that you have played the most important role in giving back to your sport to help its future, and as such get marshal discounts on several Motorbike and Classic TT fan essentials, from Arai helmets to meals at the Creg-Ny-Baa.

MARSHALLING IS FUN
Marshals get to see the racing from an angle that the ordinary Classic TT spectator can’t get, in a group of people that become life-long friends and community.
WHAT DO I DO AS A MARSHAL?
- Novice Marshal: you’ve signed up, completed your online training, and you’re ready to join a friendly team around the course
- Full Marshal: you’ve marshalled several sessions now (at the TT or the Manx Grand Prix) - you’ve gained 7 credits (2 per full race day, 1 per practice day) and done your IMC course, to become a fully-fledged marshal - click here for more training dates.
- Deputy Sector Marshal: nominated by the CSM, you are a full marshal who has demonstrated great leadership and communication skills. The responsibilities go up for a DSM, to include completing relevant paperwork to maintain safety and a successful event.
- Chief Sector Marshal: nominated by the TT Marshals then approved by the Clerk of the Course, you've proved yourself as a DSM and are stepping up in your role. Most of your work as CSM is done before the event begins, and includes communicating with race control and looking after your sector, ensuring it is appropriately manned
