THE MOUNTAIN COURSE: SECTOR 4
Sector 4 is without a doubt one of the most scenic parts of the Mountain Course, not that those competing in the Isle of Man TT Races will even see it… but the spectator can.
GOOSENECK
The tight right-hand bend, 700ft above Ramsey, the Gooseneck is a great place to watch for stunning views, up close and personal with riders tackling what is almost a MotoGP style corner (with no run off), and car parking and the possibility of hot food.
For those wanting the up close experience, the best place to be is behind the wall of the Gooseneck turn, as seen in the background of the incredible Gooseneck shots we know and love.
For those willing to hike a little further on, the banks lining the exit of the Gooseneck not only offer impeccable views of the sunny town of Ramsey, but allow the best viewing of the slow tight corner through to the rapid exit on the way up the mountain.
BUNGALOW
5.5 miles of glorious open roads ahead is the Bungalow, home to the iconic Joey Dunlop statue, the Victory Cafe, and the halfway point on the electric railway’s journey to the summit of Snaefell.
The highest point of the Mountain Course, this spot really offers the best views, extending all the way from the Verandah to Brandywell, some 1.5 miles total.
You don’t need to pick a side at the Bungalow, as the footbridge at the station allows chopping and changing to get a new perspective on every lap.
You can walk (read hike) here from Laxey or Sulby, take the tram from Laxey (allow lots of time, it will be busy but runs throughout), or, if you’re planning to be there all day, you can drive up and park at the Victory Cafe, but you won’t be able to leave until the roads open car has passed your location.
